Declaration & Pledge of Allegiance
to All Our Highest Common Ideals

We aspiring, free and responsible citizens everywhere, stand amidst a universe filled with bright stars and magnificent in our diversity pledge commitment and allegiance to all our clearly-declared "Highest Common Ideals! Though these may be goals never realized to perfection, let us reach for them, each and all, ever still!

Chief among our Common Ideals are: the satisfaction and practical benefits of safety, dignity and security for everyone and their essential needs within peaceful community; of understanding and being understood; of truly loving and being loved in health and harmony within and with all others; of contributing and partaking richly and joyfully in the many opportunities life has to offer; of enjoying clean and beautiful environments and stable democratic societies providing economic and social justice for all with no unnecessary suffering. In sum: we aspire to well-integrated and increasingly fulfilled individual lives, families, institutions, systems and societies everywhere!

To progress quickly and safely toward all these high ideals, each and all must play our best parts intending and practicing daily toward these additional, supporting ethics and ideals: An attitude of universal mutual good will and respect, care and appreciation. Honesty and integrity. Responsibility and responsiveness. Broad education. Fairness and equality of opportunity. On this basis: continually to "Communicate, Cooperate and Celebrate" for common goals; patiently, calmly and justly to resolve common conflicts. To enjoy friendship, constructive intelligence, reliability, vitality and a saving sense of humor; appropriate personal and social freedoms, joys and prosperity for community as well as individuals. To grow in harmony and self-expression; and in knowledge verified with scientific integrity; and in creativity, appreciation, compassion, forgiveness and wisdom. Ultimately through cycles of progress, conflict resolution and transformation according to all these ideals to achieve dynamic, lasting peacefulness, joys and fulfillment for everyone!

We hold these "Highest Common Ideals" to be universal; that is: deeply rooted in omnipresent natural law; and taken altogether, to be aspirations that are good for everyone. However, given free will, each individual must continually choose for them. Integrated and practiced in community along with all their complements;* these ideals shall define for us secure and sustainable life, liberty, growth and nonviolence; true friendship and love; a common commitment and peaceful empowerment for everyone who repeatedly chooses to "will good" and strive for altogether fitting outcomes even when proceeding from stressful conditions.

This practice is not easy! We must strive to cherish and practice these Ideals together, with courage and responsibility to our own greater selves and the greater Whole, especially at times of difficulty; and sometimes, seemingly, alone. Yet every wise choice will help the whole of us also, making it easier for every one to practice the Ideals consistently.

Every individual's (and entity's) sincere, consistent efforts to be ethical and nonviolent in thought, speech and action will serve as a noble yet deeply practical foundation for social trust: for thriving individual, family and community lives and democratic societies; locally, regionally, nationally, globally and universally.

Recognizing the inevitable challenges of peace; preparing for life's times of trial even as we prepare for enhanced enjoyment; we pledge our commitment and allegiance as individuals, communities and societies: to alliance and this entire* collection of "Universal Ideals. We dedicate our best efforts to realize them together in all the intentions, activities and relationships that we engage throughout our lives.

Thereby we shall stay rooted even amidst our magnificent diversity to life-supporting unity with a most deep level of life, by whatever name we call it, that connects and harmonizes us all in Great Community. We shall achieve a dynamic, successful integration of individual life and society; where natural, complementary opposites are peacefully balanced like the outreaching fingers of the hand at once fed by and responsible to the whole. Through the whole and its supporting structures, each individual member is coordinated peacefully with all others! Universal Citizens: that same "magic" will prevail in our societies by the power of our individual and collective commitments to these Highest Common Ideals!

To help strengthen our resolve; to supplement nature's laws and our own creative history; to better harmonize with natural law and each other, and to realize maximum benefits for all in daily life: let us seek to crystallize all these Ideals into our institutional laws. Let us help each other to interpret and apply our laws and these Ideals with due flexibility, strength and wisdom at every level. Let us ensure that support and protection under law is afforded equally to everyone regardless of social and economic status!

Most importantly to make our tasks feasible let us engage in effective, daily personal practices to transcend our differences and coordinate with the silent wholeness where universal natural law resides!

With mounting evidence of life's overall past performance and potential to grow and evolve to higher forms we take profound hope We commit to educating and inspiring each other with shared visions and examples; to supporting and reinforcing each other in peaceful, powerful and creative ways to hasten this growing process and to make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone. In this aspiring spirit, we take this solemn pledge.

To future generations we commit to transmit our knowledge, experience and many expressions of these Ideals to you to those whom we touch directly and to unknown civilizations as a foundation for your additional and ever-renewing commitments to universal peace. May every individual and generation learn to balance and accommodate unity and diversity; reliability and creativity; responsibility and freedom benefiting one and all at once and forever to come!
